Awards & Recognition

Hat-trick for Wispro!
For the third time in a row, Wispro was honoured with the President's Award for the top exporter in personal care. This time, it was the Gold Award (representing exports over USD 2 million) presented by H.E. President Yoweri Museveni, during the Uganda Export Promotion Bureau's gala dinner at the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom, on October 6, 2006.

Wispro is awarded recognition for its investments in personal care and expansion into the manufacturing of plastic containers:

Seems like the Vcitoria Ballroom at Munyono Speke Resort is auspicious for Wispro! On November 25, 2005, Wispro is publicly recognized for "Successful Implementation of her Project in INOY 2005." Champagne flows and Wispro glows.

Wispro is first to receive the UNBS Quality Mark:
December 2004

After intense scrutiny by scientists at the much respected Uganda National Bureau of Standards, Wispro is awarded the UNBS Quality Mark on December 9, 2004, at a ceremony held at UNBS headquarters in Kampala. To-date Wispro is the only manufacturer in the personal care category to receive this recognition for maintaining consistent quality, procedural adherence, customer service, and staff training.

Wispro "Adopts" a Market
In continuation with their goal and campaign to Keep Our Country Green, Wispro demonstrates concern over sanitation at two of the largest markets in Kampala – the Bugolobi Market and the open-air Owino Market in December 2003 and September 2004, respectively. One of the main motivations behind this initiative is to provide market vendors and shoppers a hygienic atmosphere in which to carry out their business.

  • Dozens of shop walls and the market roof at Bugolobi were cleaned and painted to provide a more sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment

  • Dozens of garbage bins were provided to shopkeepers at both markets to help with the collection of refuse, which otherwise is found littered on the market grounds and in drainage channels
